In 2012, Broadway Wishes was founded by Lauren Buben, a cancer survivor and beneficiary of the Make-A-Wish foundation. Lauren was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 3. Make-A-Wish granted her wish and allowed her to have a party in her honor at Cinderella's castle in Disney World. Years later, Lauren, healthy and determined, decided to give back to the foundation that helped her. As a result, Broadway Wishes was born!
Broadway Wishes helped raise over $10,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation in 2012. These donations aided a Wish Child named Hannah. Hannah suffered from a brain tumor and her wish was to be an extra in a Broadway show. Thanks to our generous and kind supporters, Broadway Wishes was able to grant Hannah's wish!
In 2014, Allie McCrea carried on the tradition, bringing together talented performers from various local high schools to perform a wide array of Broadway songs, with the help of the talented musicians of La Salle College High School. All of the proceeds from the event helped grant the wishes of numerous children.
In 2015, Adrianna Marino, with the help of James Durkin and Colin Murtha decided to continue Broadway Wishes for a 3rd year, raising over $10,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
In 2016, Joe Mele and Marta Lawler, with help of Katie Hunter, Caitlin Aloia, and Maddie Coulter continued Broadway Wishes for the fourth year raising over $12,000 for Make-A-Wish foundation.
In 2017, Katie Hunter, Alyssa Mattia, and Ryan Corr, with the help of Maggie McDonald and Colleen Mars continued the tradition of Broadway Wishes for the fifth year. They were able to raise over $17,000 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In 2018, Nina Chae-Gordon, Lauren Esser, Grace Gillespie, Lauren Mezzanotte, and Patrick Mizzoni continued the tradition of Broadway Wishes. They raised over $31,000 being able to grant the wishes of 3 separate kids!
Last year, Daniela Diaz, JV Fluehr, Jack Kennedy, Amanda Lamphere, and Grace Mascio helped make Broadway Wishes a reality, yet again. By raising over $45,000, 2019, this amazing fundraiser is now recognized as the 8th largest student-run Make-A-Wish fundraiser in the nation!
This year, Patrick Calhoun, Nathan Esser, Maggie Fluehr, Jenna McCrea, Ella Martin, and Julia Smith will continue the tradition!
Due to COVID-19, Broadway Wishes has been postponed. We hope to be able to gather together once this is over to share a wonderful night of music and fun! We ask that you please help us as we continue to work towards our goal of $20,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with support from our friends and family!
